Ceva Australia was delighted that an Australian equine vet was selected as one of the finalists for the Ceva UK Awards for Animal Welfare this year. These awards were established by Ceva UK to acknowledge and reward those who work to improve the welfare and care of animals - Ceva Welfare Awards Website.

Dr Kirsten Jackson was selected as one of the top 3 finalists for the Vet of the Year category. This award is to recognise a veterinary surgeon working in practice who consistently demonstrates their commitment to the continued improvement of animal welfare.

Kirsten lives and works near Perth in Australia giving 'global' its true meaning for the Ceva awards. She works in the equine sector and has a practice just outside Perth.

However, every year, Kirsten travels to the Gili Islands in Indonesia to look after the working ponies for the local people. She treats the ponies for a variety of diseases and dental problems due to an almost complete lack of welfare. At the same time, she is educating the owners about animal welfare and is having great success in turning around the poor management and compassion for these beautiful animals.

She is continuously fund raising so she can keep these treatments on-going as she acknowledges it is a slow process but much needed for the animals’ sake.

Ceva Australia wants to join Ceva UK in congratulating Kirsten for her selection as a finalist in these prestigious awards and to wish her all the best for her future.
